Building a sustaianble future with veteran leadership.
Over the past twelve months, the crew of The Veterans Green Bus has been busy establishing a base of operations, working relationships with local non profits and veterans groups.
This time has been well spent. We created training and volunteer management programs for Motor City Blight Busters of Detroit for home deconstruction debris removal and community garden projects. We were invited and participate in the Veterans Day Parade and makers fair in Dearborn, MI and interviewed for several local and international video and print publications about The Veterans Green Bus and the work we are doing with Motor City Blight Busters of Detroit to manage over 10,000 volunteers and year to help rebuild Detroit.
January 2014 the Veterans Green Bus and Crew were hibernating in a house on the east side of Detroit with no central heat under 2 feet of snow.
February was spent applying for grants to support creating a base of operations for the Veterans Green Bus and crew housing in Detroit.
We designed our business plan to be a hybrid of community service and small business incubator using new and old training methods, communication, documentation, sustainable energy technologies.
Our goals are to improve the capacity of communities to survive and rebuild after made made or natural disasters.
We will achieve these goals by combining sustainable energy and fuel production solutions with FEMA and OSHA Construction and Debris removal training. Veterans will gain real world experience managing small business programs in an incubator format.
